    Situated at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, Pasadena is about 10 miles northeast of Downtown LA. Recognized for its Rose Bowl Game and New Year’s Day Rose Parade, it is also called the City of Roses.

    Old Pasadena 

    This historical area houses more than two hundred one-of-a-kind boutiques, top brands, galleries, restaurants, and clubs. Old Pasadena ranks among Southern California’s prime shopping and entertainment areas. Walking in the area, you may appreciate architecture from the Art Deco period back to the 19th century in some of the buildings. You can notice many of them from a car, but to truly enjoy the decorative details, you will need to park and walk.  

    Norton Simon Museum 

    The museum features 700 years of European art ranging from the Gothic period to the 21st century. You can admire masterpieces by Van Gogh, Picasso, Rembrandt, Fragonard, Goya, Poussin, Claude Lorrain, Cranach the Elder, and Botticelli at the museum. It also features a vast collection of South and some Southeast Asian sculpture and a sculpture garden that includes works of Rodin.  

    Dining Options 

    Pasadena was meant to be a foodie’s paradise, considering it is the birthplace of Julia Child. The city houses as many as 500 restaurants, which offer the choices cuisine from different parts of the world.

    Pasadena’s oldest restaurant, this Mexican eatery is the city’s best kept secret.  

    All India Café 

    It offers great Indian food, if you wish to try South Asian cuisine.  

    Kabuki 

    This is an excellent Japanese food chain, quite popular with the locals.  

    Fu Shing  

    This Chinese restaurant is sought-after for its sweet and pungent shrimp.

    Pasadena has a variety of hotels to suit your needs. The full-service hotels mostly cluster around downtown Pasadena, where you have ready access to shops, restaurants, and entertainment. The city also has motels in the eastern part of the city, including a few along the Rose Parade route.
